About
Brother creates original music for advertising, film and TV and provides songwriting and arrangement services for musicians. It is comprised of three nice young lads with varied musical backgrounds, from classical to indie to pop, resulting in a unique and versatile musical brotherhood.
Ben Schneider
Ben worked as an art director in the ad business for 6 years. He gained an excellent grasp of the process of composition from the agency point of view, including what they mean when they say things like “less blurry-ish” and “more swagger.”
In 2010, Ben left the business to focus on making music. His recordings as Lord Huron have been praised by numerous publications, including NPR, The Los Angeles Times, and Pitchfork. In summer 2011, Lord Huron will play the Lollapalooza and Outside Lands festivals alongside such acts as Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips and Foo Fighters.
Mark Byers
Mark is a performing artist, songwriter and producer with a unique brand of highly melodic and infectious electronic pop. Drawing from his training at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where he received degrees in both songwriting and music syntheseis, he has supplied dynamic, modern scores for numerous TV spots, films, and web series. His songs have made their way onto shows like the CW's High Society, and the promos for Dancing With The Stars. He keeps his finger on the pulse of current music and contributes to Brother his polished production expertise.
Eric Byers
As the founding cellist of the acclaimed Calder Quartet, Eric has played hundreds of concerts in the US and abroad, including a performance this season at Carnegie Hall. With Eric at the helm of their creative programming, the Quartet recently won the ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming. He has collaborated with artists from Andrew W.K. and Vampire Weekend to classical masters like Menachem Pressler and Claude Frank. He has also worked extensively with composers like Terry Riley, Thomas Adès, and Christopher Rouse.
Eric is also a skilled composer and arranger. His piece ‘ringt.ne p.em’ was recently premiered by woodwind quartet DZ4 in New York. He has composed for film projects at American Film Institute, and is working on projects for sampled cello and sampled string quartet.
